SC Villa have confirmed they will retire the No. 15 shirt in honour of captain David Owori, who died on Wednesday afternoon after being attacked by thugs on near his home in Makindye.

Owori wore the No. 15 for the duration of his time at the record Uganda Premier League champions.
The Villa skipper was attacked by a group of thugs who hit him with paving stones on Tuesday night before robbing of his belongings and fleeing, leaving him helpless.
He was rushed at St. Albert Cook clinic and before the club transferred him to Case Hospital, where he died of his injuries on Wednesday afternoon.
On Thursday, the body of Owori was taken to St.Peters catholic church for requilem mass with a vigil scheduled on the same day at Lukuli Playground in Makindye.
His lifeless body will depart for Tororo Vigil Awuyo Village after Busitema University on Friday with burial slated for Saturday, 8th August 2026.
Owori helped Villa win League title in 2024 ending a 20-year title drought, it was the Jogoos’ 17-record extending title. Last year, he captained Villa to the Super 8 trophy and also helped them reach the Uganda Cup last season.
Owori has been one of the longest serving members at the record league champions and has featured for a number of clubs in Uganda as Nsambya, Proline and Vipers SC.
He also played for Bukedi Province in the FUFA inter-provinces tournament (FUFA Drum).
Popularly known as Colgate, he also played for Spanish fourth division entity, Velez Club de Futbol before returning to Villa in 2021.
