Kitara FC have announced the signing of goalkeeper Ivan Akera on a two year contract from South Sudanese side Al Hilal Wau FC.

Akera returns to Kitara having played 11 games for the club during their debut topflight season (2020/21).

He played a part as the club earned a historic promotion to the Uganda Premier League from the Big League in 2020.

Akera left Kitara in 2021 and joined regional league side Bweyale United before moving to South Sudan.

He is expected to play a third choice goalkeeper role with Joel Mutakubwa and Meddie Kibirige as the first and second choices respectively.

Him and Mutakubwa have come to fill the void left by the departure of Aziz Saleh and James Alitho.

Akera becomes Kitara’s 10th signing of the ongoing primary transfer window.

Karim Ndugwa, Jeromy Kirya, Christopher Bonney, Trevor Bbosa, Diego Misi Semugera, Nicholas Kasozi, Jackson Ssembatya and Martin Kizza are other new signings.
