SC Volcanoes (Mutolere SC) crowned Western Region League champions following a dominant 4–0 victory over Rwampara Bulls at Kinoni Playground in Rwampara District.
The emphatic win sees Volcanoes stretch their lead at the top of the table to 45 points with an impressive 39-goal tally, while Rwampara Bulls remain third with 25 points.
The second table runners up Six O’clock posses 33 points following their goalless draw against Makenke barracks fc scheduled today at Makenke barracks playgrounds.
Six O’clock’s draw gave Sc Volcanoes a chance to claim their championship in western region as Sc volcanoes makes 12 points difference after Rwampara bulls 4_0 command with only three fixtures remaining to close the seoson.
Despite a delayed kickoff, with Volcanoes arriving at 3:08 PM and the hosts showing up later at 4:15 PM, the match eventually got underway at 4:48 PM.
The opening minutes were evenly contested, with both sides displaying composed passing. However, the balance tilted early, In the 9th minute, Derrick Ikooza (shirt 6) linked up with Ndawura, whose intelligent movement and delivery into the box found midfielder Fiat (shirt 4), who calmly slotted home to give Volcanoes a 1–0 lead.

Speaking after the match Rwampara Bulls head coach, Bbaale Siraj Ssendyowa, admitted it was not his team’s day despite a spirited performance.
He said that, The league is very competitive, especially at the top adding that they will come back stronger in the next fixtures.
SC Volcanoes head coach Patrick Ochan praised his team’s performance and consistency.
He added that, Picking up three points, scoring four goals, and keeping a clean sheet is a big milestone for the team admitting that they are now officially champions and have secured playoff slot. He further highlighted Competition within the squad which he described as strong saying that it will helps them improve in all areas as they prepare for the playoffs.
Club president Dr. Martin Mbonye also applauded the team’s effort and consistency, emphasizing the importance of continued hard work as they approach the next stage.
He confirmed that the league trophy is expected to be handed over during their upcoming home derby against Gorilla Highlands SC at Mashaka Playground on 9th May as per FUFA authorities.
