Uganda’s Rogers Mato was on target as Heart of Midlothian sealed their Premier Sports Cup semifinal place with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Ochilview Park on Friday night.
Goals from JJ Williams, Mato and Yan Dhanda gave Hearts a comfortable victory in the quarterfinal duel.
Hearts dominated the tie from the start, with Williams breaking the deadlock before Mato doubled the advantage with a clinical finish.
Mato, tormented Stenhousemuir defence with his pace and movement, capping his performance with a well-taken goal.
Dhanda sealed the result late on to ensure Hearts booked their place in the last four with Mato being named player of the match.
The Jambos will now await their semifinal opponents as they continue their push for silverware.
In fact, Hearts became the first side to book their place in the semi-finals of a tournament they have not won since 1962.
