    Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has named a squad of 28 players to prepare for two international friendly matches to be played in Marrakech, Morocco next month.

    Uganda will lock horns with Tanzania on 5th June 2026 before taking on Madagascar on 8th June 2026 as preparations continue for upcoming international assignments leading to the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2027, which will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

    The squad comprises of players from the Uganda Premier League, Africa, Europe and the United States of America.

    Five SC Villa players have been included in the squad these are David Lukwago, Hassan Mubiru, Frank Ssebufu, Raymond Mangoli Barasa and Geoffrey Lubangakene.

    Vipers has Karim Watambala, Hillary Mukundane, and Usama Arafat are the three Vipers players summoned while KCCA FC has Sammy Ssebadduka, Herbert Achai and Ivan Ahimbisibwe.

    NEC trio of Hannington Ssebwalunyo, Joseph Sseremba and Richard Basangwa have also been called up for international duties.

    Paul Put on named squad;

    “I think these will be two good games to test where we are as a team. Qualifiers for AFCON 2027 start soon in September, October and November, so we need to be prepared.”

    “This squad also includes some new names, including local players who have shown their potential and talent this year. I want to give them a chance.’

    “We also had to deal with injuries. Players like Toby Sibbick are not 100% fit, and Elio Capradossi, Nafian Alionzi and Jude Ssemugabi are carrying injuries. Uche has not been playing regularly because his team’s season ended early, so he is not in this squad. These are the selections for this campaign.” Said Put
