Matia Lule’s Police beefs up Squad with experienced duo ahead of UPDF clash

Police Football Club has strengthened its squad ahead of Thursday’s Uganda Premier League clash against UPDF FC at Kira Road Police Arena, with the Cops seeking to return to winning ways.
Police opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Mbarara City before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Blacks Power on Matchday Two.
Ahead of the highly anticipated ‘Battle of Forces’, the Cops have added striker Sam Ssekamatte and defender Najib Fesali to their star-studded squad.
Ssekamatte joins from NEC FC on a three-year contract, while Fesali, who has been playing in India, has also committed his future to Police for the next three years.
The experienced Ssekamatte has previously featured for BUL FC, UPDF FC, Red Arrows and Al Jawaish FC. His arrival is expected to add more firepower to a forward line that already boasts Bedia Ikamba, Marko Teny, Charles Bbaale and Lawrence Tezikya.
Fesali, meanwhile, has played for Kyaggwe, URA FC, BUL FC and Indian side Yangthang FC.
He adds depth to a defensive department that includes Deus Bukenya, Daniel Jakony and Benon Tahomera, as well as new signing Patrick Kagulire.
The timely additions underline Police’s ambition to mount a serious challenge for the Uganda Premier League title and improve on last season’s performance.
The Cops have also strengthened other areas of the squad with the signings of midfielder Siraje Ssentamu from NEC FC, goalkeeper Shukuru Hadji from Calvary, Ivan Mayanja and Rogers Kiwanuka from Maroons, and Ojok Junior Emmanuel, among others.
