The Masaza Cup organizing committee has confirmed the anticipated road to the final, with plenty to look forward to in the knockout stages of the prestigious Buganda Kingdom tournament.
Buddu, Kyaggwe, Gomba, Butambala, Bugerere, Busujju, Mawogola and Kyaddondo are the eight teams in the quarterfinals after a pulsating group phase that saw several giants fall.
Quarterfinal Pairings
The quarterfinal pairings promise fireworks, headlined by a battle of titans.
•Gomba vs Buddu: A blockbuster clash between record five-time champions Gomba and three-time winners Buddu.
•Kyaggwe vs Mawogola: 2024 runners-up Kyaggwe, who topped Masengere group with 23 points, will lock horns with Mawogola.
•Butambala vs Busujju: A neighbours’ derby between two Ssingo county sides, with Butambala enjoying a great campaign.
•Bugerere vs Kyaddondo: Bugerere, who qualified as one of the best third-placed teams, take on 2008 champions Kyaddondo.
The organizing committee confirmed that the first leg of the quarterfinal stage is slated for 13th September. There will be no away goals rule, with the aggregate winners advancing to the last four.
Road To Wankulukuku
The semifinal bracket has also been mapped out:
The winner between Kyaggwe and Mawogola will battle either Butambala or Busujju in the semifinals.
On the other side of the draw, a clash between the winner of Gomba/Buddu and the winner of Kyaddondo/Bugerere awaits.
This year’s grand final is scheduled for 31st October at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
