Masaza Cup 2026: Gomba, Kyaggwe take first leg advantage in semifinals

Gomba and Kyaggwe have taken a major step towards the Masaza Cup 2026 final after securing first-leg victories in the semifinal first round played on Sunday, 27th September.
Gomba 2-0 Butambala
Record champions Gomba Lions FC put one foot in the final with a convincing 2-0 win over their neighbours Butambala at Kabulasoke Playground in Gomba.
Striker Muhammad Kasule was the hero of the day, bagging a brace to give Gomba a comfortable cushion heading into the second leg.
Butambala now have a mountain to climb in the return leg if they are to overturn the deficit.
Kyaggwe 1-0 Bugerere
In the other semifinal, Kyaggwe edged 10-man Bugerere 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter held at Bishops SS in Mukono.
Ronnie Ziraba scored the lone goal that separated the two sides, giving Kyaggwe a slim but vital advantage ahead of the second leg. Bugerere’s Isaac Ssebunya was sent off in the second half of the game.
The second legs of the semifinals will be played next Sunday, where finalists for this year’s edition will be confirmed. The final is slated for 31st October at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
