FUFA President Moses Hassim Magogo is optimistic that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted in East Africa since it’s a dream for CAF to have the tournament played in the region.

Magogo however asserts that if Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania correct the mistakes as in the CAF report that stated that the three nations were not ready to host Africa’s biggest football competition as by February, 2026.

“I am here to give Ugandans hope that it’s is the dream for CAF and it’s president to have Africa Cup of Nations hosted in East Africa. The Presidents of the three nations have supported this as well as the people in the region.”

“So it’s upon everyone who has been entrusted with the responsibility to do his or her role. In case of any mistake let us accept and involve those who are more knowledgeable to correct the mistake.”

Magogo believes focus at Hoima Stadium should be put on the construction of training facilities.

“At Hoima Stadium, they are facilities that are yet to be worked upon, so works need to get started as early as possible. Go enough cabinet confirmed the availability of funds but time is needed on some things.” Side Magogo while appearing on CBS Fm Akaati Kebyemizannyo on Wednesday

The FUFA boss also stated that no one called the CAF inspection team to come for inspection in Uganda as it was revealed by the State Minister of Sports Peter Ogwang.

On Wednesday, concerns over Uganda’s preparedness to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) dominated proceedings in Parliament, as Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi questioned the country’s readiness following a critical assessment by Confederation of African Football.

However, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja assured Parliament that the government has put in place all the necessary requirements to have the continental showpiece hosted in Uganda.
