Kitara FC came from behind to secure a first-leg advantage in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round contest against Mogadishu City Club on Sunday at Hoima City Stadium.
The Royals recorded a 2-1 win on their return to continental football.
The game was scheduled to kick off at exactly 4:00pm but was delayed by 40 minutes after Kitara FC officials failed to clear CAF bench permits on time.
Mogadishu City Council, who were playing as hosts, took the lead in the 17th minute through an Akram Ilyaas goal.
Konfor executed a free-kick that was punched away by Kitara goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige on 12 minutes.
Ilyaas opened the scoring when his shot beat goalkeeper Kibirige to silence the thousands of fans who had stormed Hoima City Stadium for the maiden continental game to be hosted at the venue.
Jimmy Kalema then struck two goals in quick succession in the 33rd and 34th minutes.
Kalema restored parity in the 33rd minute before heading the Royals into the lead moments later.
Kitara held on in the second period to secure their first win on the continent. The return leg is scheduled for Saturday next week, with the aggregate winner facing Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
