Uganda Premier League new entrants Kigezi HomeBoyz have confirmed the signing of defender Benjamin Gakumba on a two-year employment contract.
The Kabale based side confirmed Gakumba’s capture via their website in a statement which reads,
“Kigezi HomeBoyz FC are delighted to announce the signing of central defender Gakumba Benjamin on a two-year contract, making him the club’s first signing of the 2026/27 transfer window as preparations intensify for our historic maiden season in the Uganda Premier League,” Read the statement
Gakumba has been featuring for Express FC and joins Kigezi HomeBoyz as a free agent following expiration of his employment contract.
Gakumba expressed his delight upon joining “The Gorillas” and promised to help the team during its UPL journey
“I am happy to join this club. I am in love with the culture here, I love the fans and the vision of the club. I look forward to achieving great things with this club. I thank the club management for this great opportunity in my career.”
Kigezi HomeBoyz was among the four teams that gained UPL promotion for the 2026/27 season along with Blacks Power, Ntugasaze FC and Kataka FC. They recently appointed Joseph Harold Mutyaba as their head coach for their debut in the top-flight season.
