The government of Uganda has allocated Shs12.5Bn to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) as additional support to the Uganda Cranes players.
Uganda Premier League clubs will receive a grant worth Shs5.5Bn to prepare players for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations due to be hosted in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania next year from June to July.
National Council of Sports General Secretaries Bernard Patrick Ogwel made the revelation while appearing before the Parliament’s Committee on Education and Spoets to present the 2026/27 Ministerial policy statement.
Meanwhile, government has also allocated billions for diaspora training and player tracking technology ahead of the continental showpiece in East Africa.
According to the development naturalization of players abroad will cost Shs1.5Bn while Shs3.6Bn has been earnmarked to provide specialised training to players in the diaspora while Shs1.7Bn will be spent on purchase of technology to monitor the training progress of the players.
Earlier this week, Dennis Mugimba the chairperson communications and Signage sub-committee confirmed that the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had approved additional funding of Shs905Bn towards meeting critical inter-sectoral funding and administrative requirements for AFCON 2027.
