Ahead of the start of the 2026/27 season of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League and Elite Leagues, a Women Football Symposium has been scheduled to discuss how to further develop the game.
The one-day event will be held on gth September 2026 and will bring together key stakeholders in women in football from government, the corporate and media sectors as well as FUFA itself and the women football clubs to discuss how to further develop the game.
Speaking at the announcement of the event, FUFA 2nd Vice President, Dr. Aza Taibuh said women’s football has experienced tremendous growth over the last couple of years but there is still work to be done.
“As we have seen, women’s football in Uganda has grown tremendously in the last few years.
The Super League and Elite Leagues have been strengthened and we also now have Regional Women Football Leagues. Consequently, our different Women’s national football teams have been performing well at the regional and continental levels. The game has without a doubt grown but there is more to be done hence this symposium,” Dr. Azah said.
Finance Trust Bank who are the title sponsors of the Women Super League and Women Elite League have committed UGX 100,000,000 (One Hundred Million) cash sponsorship for the event at which outstanding performers and achievements from the previous season will be recognised.
“As a Bank we are committed to putting women first and to helping women grow in every sector. This is why we have been sponsoring the women’s football leagues and why we are today also headlining this Women Football Symposium”, Percy Lubega Head of Marketing & Corporate Affairs at Finance Trust Bank.
