Express FC are set to sign musician-cum-footballer Derrick Ddungu alias Rickman Manrick, according to 102.1 FUFA FM.
Rickman is currently training with the Red Eagles as intense preparations for the forthcoming Uganda Premier League season continue.
Rickman is under the recommendation of the club’s newly appointed coach Morley Byekwaso who also attempted to sign him during his spell as the KCCA FC coach.
Ddungu, who plays as a forward, is set to revive his football career having previously played for Swedish 4th tier clubs Gunnilse IS and Savedalens IF.
His football career took a twist in 2016 when he suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury and underwent surgery.
His music career kicked off in 2017 with a single titled “Naki” during the lengthy recovery spell and continued as he nursed another injury in 2018.
For a footballing introduction, the “Bango Waliwanika” hit maker is a son of former KCCA FC player and coach Patrick Kabuye.
Ddungu is expected to be among the reinforcements in the Express FC offensive department as the anticipated 2026/27 season inches closer.
Last season, The Red Eagles heavily relied on Kenneth Kimera who has since returned to his parent club Vipers SC.
The club is also optimistic in the pursuit of either Kimera from Vipers, Bruno Bunyaga or Derrick Kakooza from URA, on a season long loan.
