Debutant Vula hands Uganda Cranes maiden win at Hoima City Stadium

Uganda Cranes edged Libya 1-0 in their Group H AFCON 2027 Qualifiers clash at the Hoima City Stadium on Tuesday.
Debutant Arnold Vula scored the all important goal in the first ever national team match hosted at Hoima City Stadium.
Vula who features for Belgian side K. Beerschot VA headed the Cranes into the lead at the stroke of halftime.
Vula, born to Congolese parents, but his paternal grandmother was born in Pakwach nodded Allan Okello’s perfect free kick.
Earlier in the contest, Libya’s Ezzeddin Elmaremi was denied by veteran Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Denis Onyango after defender Rogers Torach had failed to clear the lines.
In the second half, Ezzeddin had another glorius chance in the 75th minute but failed to level matters with only the goal at his disposal.
Vula was replaced by another debutant Kelvin Owusu Boateng who plays for Austria Vienna in Austria.
Denis Omedi replaced Allan Okello while Allan Oyirwoth came on for Rogers Mato.
The Cranes held on to become the first nation in Group H to maximize points and are currently top with four points followed by Tunisia who drew 2-2 on Monday and are now both on two points.
