Bogere’s late strike rescues Uganda Cranes against DR Congo

James Bogere was the hero for the Uganda Cranes as his 90th-minute equalizer secured a 1-1 draw against DR Congo in an International Friendly played at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Monday.
DR Congo had taken the lead in the second half through Nathanael Mbuku who struck in the 63rd minute, and looked set to claim victory until Bogere’s late intervention.
It was a moment to remember for Bogere, wearing shirt 17, who rose to the occasion to level matters at the death and ensure Paul Put’s side avoided defeat.
The result comes after the Cranes handed starts to goalkeeper Kingdom Osayi, Gaucho Debohi, Sadam Masereka and Toto Majub, as Put continues to test his squad during this international window.
Uganda showed resilience and fighting spirit to the end, with Bogere’s goal capping off a hard-fought encounter against Sebastien Desabre’s men. Uganda also ended this international break unbeaten, with two wins and drawing twice.
