FUFA Drum: Acholi edge Buganda as Lango and Bunyoro share spoils in semis

It was an action-packed Saturday in the FUFA Drum – “Celebrating Our Ancestry” tournament with Acholi securing a crucial semifinal first leg home win while Lango and Bunyoro settled for a draw.
Acholi 2-1 Buganda
Acholi Province picked up a vital 2-1 victory over Buganda in a thrilling encounter semifinal first leg encounter.
Playing at home, Acholi started on the front foot and were rewarded in the 16th minute when Achidi Simon opened the scoring.
Buganda responded quickly through Vianne Ssekajugo who levelled matters in the 24th minute to make it 1-1.
The decisive moment came four minutes later when Apollo Kagwogwe turned the ball into his own net in the 28th minute, restoring Acholi’s lead to 2-1.
Buganda pushed for an equalizer in the second half but Acholi held firm to secure a first leg advantage and delight the home crowd.
Lango 0-0 Bunyoro
In the other game of the day, Lango and Bunyoro played out to a 0-0 stalemate in the first leg of their semifinal held on Saturday.
In a match where both sides created chances but lacked the cutting edge in the final third, neither Province could break the deadlock despite end-to-end action.
Lango, playing at home, pushed for a winner in front of their fans but were met by a resolute Bunyoro defence, while Bunyoro also threatened on the counter but failed to find the back of the net.
The return leg games are due next weekend to determine the 2025 finalists.
