Rwanda Women Premier League champions Rayon Sports are set to sign Crested Cranes midfielder Zaina Namuleme, Swift Sports understands.

Namuleme is currently a free agent following the expiry of her employment contract with Kenya Police Bullets.

Rayon Sports have reacted swiftly to signing the versatile midfielder with talks heading into the advanced stages of striking a compromise.

The Kigali-based giants have embarked on reinforcing their squad ahead of the CECAFA Zonal Champions League Qualifiers which will be held in Rwanda next month.

A move to Rayon Sports will see Namuleme becoming the first Ugandan to play for the Rwanda Women Premier League three time back-to-back champions.

Namuleme rose to the scene with the establishment of Kampala Queens FC in 2016 and later captained the club before joining Makerere University in 2024.

Her impressive 2024/25 season with Makerere University garnered her interest from regional and continental clubs and eventually joined Kenya Police Bullets last year.

She has been turning out for the Crested Cranes since 2016 and recently captained the national team in the CECAFA Women’s Championship last year in Tanzania.

Namuleme won the Kenya Women’s League title with The Police Bullets and has opted for a new challenge after running out of contract.

Her compatriots Daisy Nakaziro (goalkeeper), Desire Katisi Natooro (defender) and winger Magret Kunihira have already re-joined Kenya Police Bullets for the pre-season training.

Rayon Sports were last year’s losing finalists in the CECAFA’s Champions League Qualifiers, a feat that inspires them heading into this year’s edition on home soil.
