Burkina Faso needed two stoppage time goals to overcome edge Equatorial Guinea 2-1 in the AFCON Group E encounter in Casablanca.

Equatorial Guinea had to negotiate the better part of the second half with a player less but agonizingly lost all three points in the final three minutes of the game.

Equatorial Guinea we’re reduced to 10 men after Basilio Ndong was sent off following a VAR review on his stamp on Bertrand Traore’s ankle in the 50th minute.

Burkina Faso thought they had got the all important goal in the 73rd minute through Lassina Traore but his goal was cancelled for offside.

Against the run of play Equatorial Guinea broke the deadlock through Marvin Anieboh’s thumping header in the 85th minute.

Burkina Faso pushed for an equalizer and eventually got it in the 5th minute of the added eight minutes courtesy of Georgi Minoungou from close range.

Three minutes later, Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba rose highest and headed in the winning goal for the Burkinabe from a goal mouth melee.

Burkina Faso will return to action on Sunday against Algeria whereas Equatorial Guinea will face Sudan on the same day.
