Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put has revealed that his team is not playing to be watched by only Africa but the whole world.

Uganda will open its Africa Cup of Nations expedition against 2004 champions Tunisia on Tuesday night at Stade Olympique Annex Sportif Prince Abdellah.

“We are very proud to be at this tournament. The infrastructure and organization by CAF have been exceptional. We are not only playing to be watched by Africa, but by the whole world. The team is preparing well and focused on the game. I know my players better now, and they are gradually gelling into a strong side that will compete.” Said Put

Uganda’s best ever AFCON finish came at the 1978 edition when the nation finished as runners up to eventual winners Ghana.

Put who led Burkina Faso to the 2013 continental final will be hoping the Cranes can go further in the competition.

Uganda is in group C along with Tunisia, Tanzania and three time AFCON champions Nigeria.

Tunisia are making their 22nd TotalEnergies CAF AFCON appearance and their 17th in succession.
