Ayala urges Venoms to be more clinical after second straight defeat

Vipers SC head coach John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda has called on his side to be more clinical in front of goal after their 1-0 defeat to URA FC on Saturday at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

The loss was Vipers’ second in a row following their 1-0 defeat at Mbarara City, leaving the Venoms winless in their last three league games.

Speaking after the game against URA, Luyinda admitted his side has not been ruthless enough despite creating chances.

“For the three games so far, we have played well but we aren’t clinical enough with the chances created. We need to learn from this spill and it’s within us to stop this from happening again,” Luyinda said.

The defeat, sealed by Moses Aliro’s first-half goal, was compounded by a missed penalty from substitute Farouk Miya late in the game.

Despite the recent setback, Luyinda insists his team must quickly move on with more games ahead.

“It was a tough match [against URA FC], but we need to keep going because there are more games in front of us and we want to do better. Everybody knows what we need to improve. We need to be up there in the table,” he added.

“We need to learn from this and for sure we are going to be up there at the end of the season.”

The eight time league champions will hope to make amends against Lugazi FC in their next game at their home venue St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
